In a commanding performance, the Houston Texans topped the Jacksonville Jaguars 41-21 in Week 1 of the 2027 season, setting the tone for the year ahead. With both teams looking to make an early statement, the Texans showcased their offensive firepower and defensive prowess to secure a decisive victory. C.J. Stroud led the Texans’ aerial assault with three touchdown passes while Dylan Sampson dominated on the ground, racking up an impressive 248 rushing yards. Trevor Lawrence put up a valiant effort for the Jaguars, throwing for 376 yards and connecting with Brian Thomas Jr., who amassed 266 receiving yards, but it ultimately wasn’t enough to keep pace with Houston's offensive onslaught. Defensively, Will Anderson Jr. was a standout for the Texans, notching two sacks and contributing to a defensive effort that stifled the Jaguars' momentum. The turning point came in the second quarter when Houston's defense forced a crucial turnover, allowing Stroud to capitalize with a touchdown pass, which shifted the game's momentum firmly in the Texans' favor.
