In an explosive start to the 2026 season, the Kansas City Chiefs topped the Denver Broncos with a final score of 48-28. Both teams entered the game looking to establish early dominance in the AFC West, but it was the Chiefs who emerged victorious, showcasing their offensive firepower. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the charge for Kansas City, throwing for 327 yards and four touchdowns, solidifying his status as an elite playmaker. His go-to target, Luke Musgrave, caught five passes for 97 yards, creating significant mismatches against the Denver secondary. Meanwhile, the Broncos' J.K. Dobbins had a standout performance of his own, rushing for 121 yards, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Chiefs’ high-octane offense. Defensively, the Chiefs made crucial plays that impacted the game’s outcome. Chamarri Conner's interception was pivotal, halting a promising Denver drive and shifting momentum back to Kansas City. The Broncos' defensive efforts, led by Pat Surtain II with five tackles and Nik Bonitto's sack, couldn’t contain Mahomes’ dynamic performance, allowing the Chiefs to pull away and secure the win.
