In a dominating performance to kick off the 2026 season, the Washington Commanders triumphed over the Philadelphia Eagles with a final score of 40 to 3. The stakes were high as both teams aimed to set the tone for the year, but it was Washington that showcased their offensive prowess and defensive might from the first whistle. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels led the charge with a stellar outing, throwing for 214 yards and three touchdowns, making him the standout offensive player of the game. He connected frequently with wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who racked up 97 receiving yards, proving to be a reliable target throughout the contest. The Eagles struggled to contain this potent combination, allowing Washington to build an insurmountable lead. On the defensive side, the Commanders asserted their dominance, with Quan Martin registering a sack and Nick Cross securing an interception, pivotal in stifling any momentum from Philadelphia. The turning point came early in the second half when Cross's interception halted an Eagles drive, leading to another Washington touchdown. The Commanders' defensive unit was relentless, limiting the Eagles to just three points and ensuring a lopsided victory.
