In a thrilling Week 1 matchup of the 2026 season, the Denver Broncos narrowly defeated the Kansas City Chiefs with a final score of 52-49. Both teams showcased their offensive prowess, but the Broncos managed to hold off a late surge from the Chiefs in a game that had significant playoff implications early in the year. Bo Nix led the Broncos with a staggering 482 passing yards and contributed to the scoreboard with multiple touchdowns, while RJ Harvey complemented the air attack with an impressive 113 rushing yards. On the other side, Patrick Mahomes threw for six touchdowns and kept the Chiefs competitive, but it was Xavier Worthy’s phenomenal 333 receiving yards that truly electrified the Kansas City crowd. Defensively, the Broncos made key plays that altered the course of the game, particularly with Jahdae Barron’s two interceptions. Brandon Jones also contributed with four total tackles, helping to contain the Chiefs' explosive offense when it mattered most. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Barron’s second interception set up the game-winning drive, solidifying Denver’s victory in a high-scoring affair.
