The Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicked off the 2026 season with a decisive 28-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. With both teams eager to make an early statement, the Buccaneers proved to be the stronger side, showcasing their offensive firepower and defensive resilience. Baker Mayfield led the charge for Tampa Bay, tossing for 151 yards while guiding the offense effectively. Meanwhile, Cincinnati's Joe Burrow managed to throw for one touchdown but struggled to keep pace with Mayfield. On the ground, Chase Brown shone for the Bengals, racking up an impressive 118 rushing yards, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win, as the Buccaneers had a balanced offensive attack. Defensively, the Buccaneers made a significant impact with Tykee Smith's standout performance, securing two crucial interceptions that shifted the momentum in their favor. The turning point came late in the third quarter when Smith picked off Burrow, setting up a touchdown that widened Tampa Bay's lead. Despite Cincinnati's efforts to rally back, the Buccaneers’ defense held firm, allowing them to secure the victory and start the season on a high note.
