In a high-octane season opener, the Denver Broncos topped the Kansas City Chiefs 57-35, showcasing their offensive firepower and setting the tone for the 2026 season. Both teams aimed to make a statement, but it was the Broncos who emerged victorious, dominating the scoreboard and leaving no doubt about their intentions this year. Bo Nix led the charge for Denver, throwing for four touchdown passes while amassing significant yardage through the air. Complementing his effort was Travis Etienne Jr., who rushed for an impressive 176 yards, consistently breaking through the Chiefs' defense. On the receiving end, the Broncos spread the ball effectively, but it was the Chiefs' Xavier Worthy who stood out with 159 receiving yards, despite the defeat. Defensively, the Broncos made their mark with Alex Highsmith's standout performance, recording 2.5 sacks and applying constant pressure on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who still threw for 398 yards but struggled to find rhythm. The game-changing moment came in the second quarter, when Denver's defense forced a turnover that shifted momentum firmly in their favor. This win not only boosts the Broncos’ confidence but also serves as a warning to the rest of the league.
