In a thrilling season opener, the Arizona Cardinals topped the Los Angeles Chargers 31-22, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting 2026 campaign. The Cardinals showcased their offensive prowess, capitalizing on key opportunities while the Chargers struggled to maintain momentum in critical moments. Arizona's Jeremiyah Love was a standout on the ground, racking up 134 rushing yards that allowed the Cardinals to control the pace of the game. Quarterback Justin Herbert of the Chargers kept his team competitive with 229 passing yards and two touchdown throws, but it was not enough to overcome the Cardinals' balanced attack. Ladd McConkey was Herbert's top target, finishing with 129 receiving yards, but the Chargers couldn't find the end zone consistently. Defensively, the Cardinals made crucial plays to secure the win, highlighted by a pivotal interception from Max Melton. Josh Sweat also contributed with a sack that disrupted Herbert's rhythm at key moments. The turning point came in the second half when the Cardinals' defense stiffened, forcing the Chargers to settle for field goals instead of touchdowns, ultimately sealing the victory for Arizona.
