In a decisive Week 7 matchup, the Columbus Orbits topped the Memphis Steamers 38-21, solidifying their position in the playoff race. The win was crucial for Columbus as they continue to build momentum in the 2027 season, while Memphis looks to regroup after a challenging outing. Leading the charge for the Orbits was quarterback Malik Willis, who not only threw for 211 yards but also showcased his dual-threat ability with 90 rushing yards. He found star receiver Jim Brown frequently, who racked up an impressive 130 receiving yards, providing a consistent target throughout the game. Meanwhile, Jalen Milroe's two touchdown passes kept Memphis competitive, but it was not enough to overcome the Orbits' offensive onslaught. Defensively, the Orbits made key plays to stifle Memphis' efforts, with Jalen Mayo snagging an interception that shifted momentum in Columbus's favor. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Mayo's pick led to a quick touchdown, allowing the Orbits to pull ahead and ultimately dictate the pace of the game. Memphis struggled to find rhythm against the Columbus defense, which limited their scoring opportunities and secured a pivotal victory.
