The Houston Texans narrowly defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 16-14 in a tightly contested Week 2 matchup of the 2027 season. Both teams entered the game looking to establish early momentum, but it was the Texans who managed to hold off a late surge from the Jaguars, securing the win on the road. Lamar Jackson showcased his passing prowess for Jacksonville, throwing for 252 yards and two touchdowns, connecting frequently with standout receiver Garrett Wilson, who racked up 145 receiving yards. Despite Jackson's impressive performance, the Texans found their stride on the ground with Rico Dowdle leading the charge with 58 rushing yards, effectively managing the clock in crucial moments. Defensively, the Jaguars put up a resilient effort, highlighted by Jaylon Johnson’s six total tackles and Keeanu Benton’s 1.5 sacks, which kept pressure on Houston’s offense. However, it was a late-game defensive lapse that proved costly, allowing the Texans to drive down the field and secure the game-winning score. The Jaguars' inability to contain Houston in those final minutes ultimately sealed their fate in this closely fought battle.
