In a tightly contested opener for the 2027 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers narrowly defeated the Houston Texans 20-16. Both teams fought hard, but the Buccaneers found a way to secure the victory, setting a promising tone for their campaign ahead. C.J. Stroud led the Texans offensively, throwing for 265 yards and a touchdown, while Woody Marks added 71 rushing yards to the mix. Nico Collins was the standout receiver, racking up an impressive 148 yards, showcasing his ability to make big plays downfield. Despite the Texans’ offensive firepower, it wasn't enough to overcome the Buccaneers' balanced attack. Defensively, the Buccaneers made key plays that shifted the momentum in their favor. Zyon McCollum anchored the defense with nine total tackles, while John Bullock recorded 1.5 sacks, applying consistent pressure on Stroud. The turning point came when Jacob Parrish intercepted a crucial pass, stifling a potential scoring drive and allowing Tampa Bay to maintain their lead in the closing moments of the game.
