In a thrilling Week 2 matchup of the 2026 season, the Washington Commanders outlasted the Dallas Cowboys with a final score of 29-24. This victory not only showcased Washington's offensive prowess but also set the tone for their aspirations this season as they aim for a playoff run. Leading the charge for the Commanders was quarterback Jayden Daniels, who threw for an impressive 353 yards and four touchdowns, demonstrating pinpoint accuracy and exceptional poise under pressure. His standout performance was complemented by receiver Jaylin Lane, who racked up 234 receiving yards, proving to be a reliable target throughout the contest. Despite a solid rushing effort from Dallas' Javonte Williams, who managed 42 yards on the ground, the Commanders' aerial attack was simply too much to handle. Defensively, Washington's Leo Chenal anchored the unit with seven total tackles, helping to stifle the Cowboys' key offensive plays. The game’s turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Daniels connected with Lane for a 75-yard touchdown, giving the Commanders the lead for good. While Dallas did manage to apply pressure with two sacks from Malachi Lawrence and an interception from DJ Turner II, it wasn’t enough to secure the win as Washington's defense tightened down the stretch.
