In a commanding season opener, the New Orleans Saints topped the Detroit Lions 35-21, setting the tone for their 2026 campaign. Both teams were eager to make a statement, but it was the Saints who emerged victorious, showcasing their offensive firepower and defensive prowess. Leading the charge for New Orleans was quarterback Taylen Green, who delivered an impressive performance with 273 passing yards and four touchdowns. His top target, Justin Jefferson, shone brightly with 120 receiving yards, making crucial plays that kept the Lions on their heels. Meanwhile, TreVeyon Henderson contributed on the ground with 32 rushing yards, rounding out a potent offensive display. Defensively, the Saints made their mark with two key interceptions from Deonte Banks, which shifted momentum in their favor. The turning point of the game came in the second quarter when Banks' second pick set up a pivotal touchdown, extending the Saints' lead to 28-14. Despite a solid effort from Detroit's Renardo Green, who recorded five tackles, the Lions struggled to contain New Orleans' dynamic offense as the game progressed.
