In a thrilling Week 3 showdown, the Houston Texans narrowly defeated the Indianapolis Colts with a final score of 24-22. The stakes were high as both teams sought to solidify their positions early in the season, but it was Houston that emerged victorious in a tightly contested battle. Offensively, it was a standout performance from Lamar Jackson, who rushed for an impressive 127 yards, leading the Texans' ground game. Fernando Mendoza of the Colts also had a noteworthy outing, throwing for 257 yards and two touchdowns, while Johnny Wilson racked up 127 receiving yards, keeping the Colts in contention until the final whistle. Defensively, the Texans made their mark with Devonte Wyatt recording three sacks, significantly disrupting Mendoza's rhythm. The game turned in the fourth quarter when Houston's defense held firm, with Mansoor Delane's two interceptions for Indianapolis proving not enough to clinch a comeback. Ultimately, it was the Texans' ability to stifle the Colts' late-game efforts that sealed the win.
