In a hard-fought battle, the Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeated the Washington Commanders with a final score of 28-21, improving their record to 2-0 in the early stages of the 2026 season. The stakes were high as both teams looked to establish momentum, but the Cowboys ultimately came out on top in this divisional showdown. Dak Prescott was the star of the night for Dallas, throwing for 271 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his ability to connect with his receivers under pressure. KaVontae Turpin emerged as his favorite target, racking up 92 receiving yards and proving to be a key component of the Cowboys' offensive strategy. Meanwhile, Jacory Croskey-Merritt led the ground attack for Washington with 56 rushing yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Cowboys' aerial assault. Defensively, the Cowboys made critical plays at key moments, with Caleb Downs intercepting a pass that shifted the momentum in Dallas' favor. Quinnen Williams added a sack to his name, putting pressure on the Commanders’ quarterback when it mattered most. The turning point came late in the game when Downs' interception led to a touchdown drive, allowing the Cowboys to hold off a late surge from Washington and secure their victory.
