In a decisive Week 2 matchup of the 2026 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers topped the New England Patriots with a final score of 31-14. With both teams aiming for early-season momentum, the Steelers showcased their offensive firepower while the Patriots struggled to keep pace. Drake Maye led the Patriots in both passing and rushing, throwing for 217 yards and two touchdowns while also adding 65 rushing yards on the ground. A.J. Brown was his primary target, finishing with 72 receiving yards. However, the Steelers' balanced attack proved too much, allowing them to control the game throughout. Defensively, the Steelers made their mark with crucial plays that shifted the momentum. T.J. Watt was a standout, recording two sacks that disrupted Maye's rhythm and limited the Patriots' scoring opportunities. Payton Wilson's four tackles helped solidify the Steelers' defensive efforts, while Carlton Davis III's two interceptions for New England were not enough to turn the tide, marking a game where Pittsburgh's defense ultimately sealed the victory.
