In a tightly contested Week 5 matchup, the Seattle Seahawks held off the San Francisco 49ers, emerging victorious with a final score of 24-17. This win not only boosts the Seahawks’ momentum but also adds a significant chapter to their rivalry with the 49ers, further intensifying the race for playoff positioning in the 2026 season. Sam Darnold led the Seahawks' offense with precision, throwing for two touchdown passes that proved crucial in building their lead. While Brock Purdy of the 49ers showcased his skills with 154 passing yards, it was Christian McCaffrey's strong ground game, racking up 103 rushing yards, that kept San Francisco competitive. However, Mike Evans also made his presence felt, leading the 49ers with 79 receiving yards, highlighting the explosive potential of their offense. Defensively, the Seahawks were anchored by Nick Emmanwori, who tallied six total tackles, helping contain the 49ers' offensive threats. The turning point came in the second half when the Seahawks' defense tightened up, allowing only a single touchdown after halftime and forcing the 49ers to struggle for scoring opportunities. Osa Odighizuwa's 1.5 sacks provided pressure on Purdy, further contributing to Seattle's ability to control the flow of the game and secure the win.
