In a thrilling season opener, the Washington Commanders topped the Philadelphia Eagles 28-20, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting 2026 campaign. Both teams aimed to make a statement in Week 1, but it was the Commanders who emerged victorious, showcasing their offensive prowess and defensive grit. Washington's Jayden Daniels led the charge with an impressive performance, throwing for 2 touchdowns and contributing to a balanced attack. Meanwhile, Jaylin Lane was a standout in the receiving game, racking up 84 yards, while Saquon Barkley of the Eagles put forth a strong effort on the ground with 75 rushing yards. Jalen Hurts also had a solid outing, amassing 294 passing yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Commanders' offensive efficiency. Defensively, Washington made crucial plays that shifted the momentum of the game. Nick Cross led the way with 9 total tackles, while Deatrich Wise Jr. added 1.5 sacks to disrupt the Eagles' rhythm. The game's turning point came when Amik Robertson intercepted a pass late in the fourth quarter, sealing the victory for the Commanders and showcasing the team's ability to come up big when it mattered most.
