In a tightly contested matchup, the Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeated the Washington Commanders 19-17 in Week 2 of the 2026 season. With both teams looking to build momentum early in the year, this victory gives the Cowboys a crucial edge as they strive for playoff positioning. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott led the charge with a touchdown pass, while running back Jaydon Blue contributed significantly on the ground with 74 rushing yards. On the other side, Washington's Jayden Daniels showcased his arm talent, throwing for 171 yards, with Antonio Williams emerging as his top target, racking up 98 receiving yards to keep the game competitive. Defensively, Malachi Lawrence was a standout for the Cowboys, making a significant impact with four total tackles and three sacks, which helped stifle the Commanders' offensive efforts. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Lawrence's relentless pressure forced a crucial turnover, allowing Dallas to maintain their lead and secure the win. The Commanders' Sonny Styles did intercept a pass, but it wasn't enough to tilt the game in their favor.
