In a decisive opening matchup of the 2026 season, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Los Angeles Rams with a final score of 35-14. The victory sets a strong tone for the 49ers as they look to build on last season's success while the Rams aim to regroup after a tough defeat. Leading the offensive charge was Matthew Stafford of the Rams, who threw for 298 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his ability to connect with his receivers. However, it was Christian McCaffrey who made significant contributions for the 49ers, rushing for 93 yards and keeping the chains moving. Davante Adams shone for Los Angeles as well, racking up 155 receiving yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome San Francisco's offensive firepower. On the defensive side, the 49ers were relentless, with Upton Stout making a significant impact by recording two interceptions, which shifted momentum in favor of San Francisco. Dre Greenlaw also contributed with a sack, further disrupting the Rams' offensive rhythm. The turning point came when Stout's second interception led directly to a touchdown, effectively sealing the game and demonstrating the 49ers' dominance on both sides of the ball.
