In a commanding performance to kick off the 2026 season, the New England Patriots topped the Seattle Seahawks 39-23. Both teams entered the game eager to set a strong tone for the year, but it was the Patriots who showcased their offensive firepower and defensive prowess to secure the win. Quarterback Drake Maye led the charge for New England, throwing for three touchdowns and guiding a balanced offensive attack that kept the Seahawks on their heels. Sam Darnold of Seattle put up impressive numbers with 292 passing yards, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba was a standout receiver, racking up 134 yards, but it simply wasn’t enough to overcome the Patriots' explosive offense. Defensively, the Patriots made crucial plays that shifted momentum in their favor. Kevin Byard III anchored the defense with nine total tackles, while Gabe Jacas contributed with two sacks, putting pressure on Darnold throughout the game. The turning point came when Christian Gonzalez intercepted Darnold twice, thwarting potential scoring drives and helping New England maintain control and ultimately secure their victory.
