In a commanding display, the Detroit Lions topped the Arizona Cardinals 42-14 in Week 5 of the 2026 season, further solidifying their playoff aspirations. With this victory, the Lions showcased their offensive prowess and sent a clear message to the rest of the league. Leading the charge for Detroit was quarterback Jared Goff, who threw for an impressive 345 yards and four touchdowns, establishing himself as a key driver of the team's offensive success. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs complemented the air attack with a stellar performance on the ground, racking up 119 rushing yards. Amon-Ra St. Brown was Goff's favorite target, amassing 136 receiving yards and consistently creating mismatches against the Arizona secondary. Defensively, the Lions were relentless, with Aidan Hutchinson stealing the spotlight. He recorded five total tackles and an astonishing four sacks, disrupting the Cardinals' offensive rhythm throughout the game. The turning point came in the second quarter when Hutchinson’s pressure led to a crucial turnover, allowing Detroit to extend their lead and ultimately seal the victory. Despite a valiant effort from Arizona's Mack Wilson Sr., who intercepted two passes, the Lions' defense proved too formidable on this night.
