In a commanding performance to kick off the 2026 season, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Denver Broncos 35-6. The stakes were high as both teams looked to set the tone for the year, but it was the Chiefs who capitalized on their home field advantage and showcased their dominance throughout the game. Justin Fields was the standout performer for Kansas City, throwing for 289 yards and four touchdowns while also contributing 69 rushing yards. His connection with Xavier Worthy proved lethal, as Worthy racked up 165 receiving yards, making crucial plays that consistently put the Broncos on their heels. The Chiefs' offense was efficient and explosive, leaving little room for Denver to respond. On the defensive side, Kansas City was equally impressive, with George Karlaftis leading the charge with three sacks. The Chiefs' defense pressured the Broncos' offensive line, creating chaos and disrupting any rhythm Denver hoped to establish. The turning point came early on when Kansas City’s defense stifled a promising Broncos drive, allowing the Chiefs to seize control and never look back.
