In a commanding performance, the Washington Commanders toppled the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 41-21, solidifying their position early in the 2026 season. With both teams looking to establish momentum, this matchup proved crucial for the Commanders as they aim for a strong playoff push. Dak Prescott put on a show for the Cowboys, throwing for 324 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to lead the offense. However, it was Jacory Croskey-Merritt's steady ground game for Washington that kept the chains moving, even with just 50 rushing yards. CeeDee Lamb stood out for Dallas as well, racking up 134 receiving yards, but the Cowboys couldn't keep pace with the explosive Washington attack. The Commanders' defense played a pivotal role in this victory, particularly thanks to Percy Butler, who grabbed three interceptions, shifting momentum in Washington's favor. Dee Winters managed to apply pressure with a sack, but it was Butler's defensive prowess that truly turned the tide. The turning point came in the second quarter when Butler's first interception led to a quick touchdown, giving the Commanders a lead they would not relinquish.
