In a decisive opening matchup of the 2026 season, the Denver Broncos dominated the Kansas City Chiefs with a final score of 42-14. This victory not only sets the tone for the Broncos' campaign but also signals a rough start for the Chiefs, who will need to regroup quickly to stay competitive in the division. Carson Wentz was the star of the show for Denver, throwing for 323 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his command of the offense. He connected frequently with Courtland Sutton, who racked up an impressive 141 receiving yards, making several key catches that extended drives. Dalvin Cook added a solid ground game with 71 rushing yards, helping to balance the offensive attack. Defensively, the Broncos were equally impressive, with Damarri Mathis making a significant impact by snagging two interceptions, which shifted momentum firmly in Denver's favor. The Broncos' defensive unit consistently pressured the Chiefs' offense, contributing to the game's turning point when Mathis intercepted a pass that led to a quick touchdown drive. Meanwhile, Chiefs safety Justin Reid's three tackles highlighted a tough day for Kansas City, as they struggled to contain the explosive Denver offense.
