In a thrilling Week 1 matchup, the Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeated the New York Giants by a score of 24-18, kicking off the 2026 season in dramatic fashion. With both teams eager to establish an early foothold in the division, this contest was filled with tension and high-stakes plays throughout. New York's Daniel Jones showcased his skills, throwing for 218 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Giants' offense effectively. Saquon Barkley added a strong ground game with 114 rushing yards, while Sterling Shepard served as a reliable target, racking up 81 receiving yards. Despite the strong offensive efforts from the Giants, it wasn't enough to overcome the Cowboys’ resilience. Defensively, Stephon Gilmore was a standout for Dallas, recording a total of eight tackles and two critical interceptions that shifted momentum back to his team. The game's turning point came in the fourth quarter when Gilmore's second interception halted a promising Giants drive, allowing the Cowboys to maintain their lead and secure the victory. Meanwhile, Kayvon Thibodeaux made his presence felt for New York with two sacks, but the defensive efforts were ultimately not enough to clinch the win.
