In a commanding display to kick off the 2026 season, the Minnesota Vikings topped the Green Bay Packers with a final score of 45-20. This matchup marked a crucial start for both teams, but the Vikings quickly established themselves as contenders in the NFC North. Leading the charge for Minnesota was quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who threw for an impressive 280 yards and five touchdowns, showcasing his ability to connect with receivers. T.J. Hockenson was a standout target, racking up 107 receiving yards, while the offensive line provided solid protection, allowing McCarthy to operate efficiently. Meanwhile, Josh Jacobs led the Packers' ground game with 73 rushing yards but struggled to keep pace with the Vikings' explosive offense. Defensively, the Vikings made pivotal plays that shifted the momentum in their favor. Byron Murphy Jr. was a game-changer with two interceptions, effectively halting any momentum the Packers tried to build. Additionally, Jalen Redmond contributed with a key sack, helping to disrupt Green Bay's rhythm. The turning point came early in the second half when Minnesota forced a turnover, leading to a quick touchdown that extended their lead and left the Packers scrambling to catch up.
