In a hard-fought battle, the Portland Dragons narrowly defeated the Oklahoma City Hornets with a final score of 24-18, solidifying their position in the playoff race as Week 8 unfolds in the 2027 season. Both teams needed this win, but it was the Dragons who emerged victorious, showcasing their resilience on the road. Leading the charge for Portland was quarterback Jayden Daniels, who threw for two touchdowns, while running back Jonathan Taylor dominated on the ground with 157 rushing yards. Despite a strong effort from Oklahoma City's Tyrique Bartow, who recorded 224 passing yards, the Dragons' offense proved too potent as they capitalized on key opportunities throughout the game. Defensively, the Dragons were bolstered by Jer'Zhan Newton, who registered a crucial sack, but it was the Hornets’ Craig Woodson who made a significant impact with two interceptions and five total tackles. The turning point came in the fourth quarter, when Woodson's second interception gave the Hornets a chance to tie the game, but the Dragons' defense held firm to secure the victory, showcasing their grit when it mattered most.
