In a thrilling showdown in Week 17, the Honolulu Riptides topped the Las Vegas Lotus 32-24, securing their playoff position as the regular season draws to a close. Both teams battled fiercely, but the Riptides emerged victorious, showcasing their offensive prowess when it mattered most. Joe Burrow led the Riptides with a standout performance, throwing for three touchdowns and helping his team maintain momentum throughout the game. Meanwhile, Fernando Mendoza of the Lotus put up impressive numbers, amassing 402 passing yards along with 36 rushing yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Riptides' offensive firepower. Manny Reveron was a key target for Burrow, racking up 187 receiving yards and providing critical receptions at pivotal moments. Defensively, the Riptides made their mark with a dominant performance, highlighted by Odafe Oweh, who recorded 3.5 sacks, disrupting Mendoza's rhythm and contributing to the pressure that led to key turnovers. The turning point came late in the game when Oweh's relentless pursuit forced a crucial third down, allowing the Riptides to secure the win and seal their playoff fate. The Lotus fought valiantly, but ultimately, it was Honolulu's defense that sealed the deal.
