The Detroit Lions topped the Miami Dolphins with a commanding 35-16 victory in Week 9 of the 2026 season, solidifying their position in the playoff race. This win was essential for the Lions as they look to build momentum heading into the latter part of the season. Malik Willis was the standout performer for Detroit, throwing for 202 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing both his arm and decision-making. Jahmyr Gibbs contributed significantly on the ground with 62 rushing yards, while the receiving corps, led by tight end and wide receiver, capitalized on Miami's defensive lapses. Tyreek Hill was the lone bright spot for the Dolphins, racking up 108 receiving yards but unable to find the end zone. The Lions' defense played a crucial role in the victory, with Aidan Hutchinson leading the charge with 1.5 sacks, constantly pressuring the Dolphins' offense. The turning point came midway through the second quarter when Avonte Maddox intercepted a pass, shifting the momentum firmly in Detroit's favor. With solid tackling and disciplined play, the Lions' defense stifled Miami's attempts to rally, ensuring a comfortable win on the road.
