The Pittsburgh Steelers kicked off the 2026 season with a commanding 24-12 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. With both teams eager to start the year on the right foot, the Steelers managed to assert their dominance early, setting the tone for the game and securing their first win of the season. Aaron Rodgers was the star of the night for Pittsburgh, throwing for 272 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his veteran leadership and precision. Dri Archer contributed significantly on the ground, racking up 70 rushing yards, while the Steelers’ offense consistently found ways to move the ball against the Falcons’ defense. Despite the loss, Atlanta's Zachariah Branch stood out with an impressive 122 receiving yards, proving to be a reliable target for his quarterback. Defensively, the Steelers were anchored by DeShon Elliott, who recorded six tackles, helping to stifle the Falcons' offensive efforts. The game’s turning point came in the second quarter when Pittsburgh's defense forced a crucial turnover, allowing Rodgers to capitalize and extend their lead. While James Pearce Jr. of Atlanta made a notable impact with 2.5 sacks, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Steelers' balanced attack and defensive resilience.
