In a decisive Week 2 matchup, the Washington Commanders topped the Dallas Cowboys with a commanding score of 36-14. With both teams looking to establish momentum early in the 2026 season, Washington delivered a statement win, asserting their dominance on the road. Jayden Daniels was the star of the night for the Commanders, throwing for three touchdowns and leading his offense efficiently. Despite Dak Prescott's impressive 258 passing yards for Dallas, the Cowboys struggled to find the end zone, while Jacory Croskey-Merritt added a solid ground game with 59 rushing yards to help control the tempo for Washington. Defensively, the Commanders made key plays that shifted the momentum in their favor, highlighted by Leo Chenal's interception that halted a promising Dallas drive. While Malik Hooker led the Cowboys with five tackles, their defense could not contain Washington's explosive offense, ultimately allowing the Commanders to pull away in the second half. The turning point came when Washington scored two quick touchdowns in the third quarter, leaving Dallas unable to recover.
