In an explosive season opener, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers topped the New York Giants with a final score of 42-28, kicking off the 2027 season in style. Both teams battled fiercely, but the Buccaneers emerged victorious, showcasing their offensive firepower and defensive prowess. Leading the charge for Tampa Bay was quarterback Baker Mayfield, who threw for an impressive 342 yards and five touchdowns, proving to be a formidable presence in the pocket. His top target, Hayden Sutphin, had a standout performance, racking up 184 receiving yards and finding the end zone, while Cam Skattebo of the Giants put up a valiant effort with 137 rushing yards. Defensively, the Buccaneers made their mark, with Rueben Bain Jr. recording two sacks to disrupt the Giants' offense and Antoine Winfield Jr. snagging an interception that shifted momentum in the second half. The turning point came when Winfield's interception allowed Tampa Bay to extend their lead, ultimately sealing the game as they held off any late-game surge from New York.
