In a decisive Week 5 matchup, the New England Patriots topped the Jacksonville Jaguars 35-20, securing a crucial win to bolster their playoff aspirations. With both teams eager to establish momentum in the 2027 season, the Patriots showcased their offensive prowess and defensive resilience to claim victory on the road. Drake Maye had a standout performance, throwing for 237 yards and four touchdowns, demonstrating his ability to lead the Patriots' offense effectively. TreVeyon Henderson was a dual threat, not only rushing for 85 yards but also making a significant impact in the passing game with 109 receiving yards. His versatility kept the Jaguars' defense on its heels, contributing greatly to the Patriots' scoring efforts. While the Patriots' offense shined, their defense also played a pivotal role in the outcome, highlighted by Mac Williamson's team-leading five tackles. The turning point came in the second quarter when the Jaguars struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, allowing New England to extend their lead and control the game. Although Travon Walker recorded a sack for Jacksonville and Antonio Johnson snagged an interception, it wasn't enough to halt the Patriots’ momentum as they held off the Jaguars down the stretch.
