The Tampa Bay Buccaneers opened the 2026 season with a thrilling 34-31 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in a closely contested matchup. Both teams sought to set a strong tone for the year, but it was the Buccaneers who emerged victorious, showcasing their offensive firepower and resilience down the stretch. Baker Mayfield shone brightly for Tampa Bay, throwing for 366 yards and four touchdowns, leading a potent Buccaneers offense. Emeka Egbuka was his primary target, racking up 133 receiving yards and making several key catches. On the ground, Chase Brown kept the Bengals competitive with 96 rushing yards, but it was Mayfield's aerial assault that ultimately tilted the game in Tampa Bay's favor. Defensively, the Buccaneers made crucial stops when it mattered most, as Alex Anzalone led the way with seven total tackles. Rueben Bain Jr. contributed with a pivotal sack, putting pressure on the Bengals' offense. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when DJ Turner II intercepted a pass, giving Cincinnati a glimmer of hope, but the Buccaneers' defense held firm to secure the win and start the season on a high note.
