In a tightly contested matchup, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers narrowly defeated the Chicago Bears 16-10 in Week 9 of the 2026 season. This victory keeps the Buccaneers in the playoff hunt, while the Bears continue to search for answers as they struggle to find consistency. Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers' offense with a solid performance, throwing for 229 yards and connecting with Emeka Egbuka, who racked up 111 receiving yards. Meanwhile, Bucky Irving added balance to the attack with 61 rushing yards, helping Tampa Bay maintain control of the clock and the game. Defensively, the Bears made their presence felt with standout performances, including two sacks from Montez Sweat and seven total tackles from Tyrique Stevenson Sr. However, the game's turning point came late in the fourth quarter when the Buccaneers' defense stiffened, limiting the Bears' offensive opportunities and securing the victory. Despite some strong defensive plays, Chicago couldn't capitalize enough to change the outcome, falling short in their quest for a comeback.
