In a commanding performance, the Detroit Lions triumphed over the Arizona Cardinals with a final score of 40-13 in Week 5 of the 2026 season. This victory not only boosts the Lions’ confidence but also solidifies their position in the playoff race. The Cardinals, struggling to find their rhythm, faced a significant setback in their quest for postseason contention. Jared Goff was the standout offensive player, throwing for 281 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his precision and poise throughout the game. Meanwhile, Jahmyr Gibbs added a powerful ground game with 104 rushing yards, while Amon-Ra St. Brown torched the Cardinals' secondary with 133 receiving yards, providing Goff with reliable targets and big plays when it mattered most. Defensively, Aidan Hutchinson made his presence felt with 1.5 sacks, disrupting the Cardinals' offensive flow and putting pressure on their quarterback. The turning point came in the second quarter when Hutchinson's sack led to a fumble recovery, allowing the Lions to extend their lead and seize control of the game. The Lions' defense held strong, limiting the Cardinals to just 13 points and securing a decisive win.
