In a commanding Week 1 matchup, the Pittsburgh Steelers topped the Atlanta Falcons with a final score of 31-17, kicking off the 2026 season with a strong performance. The victory puts the Steelers in an early position of power in their quest for playoff contention this year. Pittsburgh's offense was led by veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who threw for 287 yards and three touchdown passes, showcasing his ability to connect with receivers downfield. Among those targets was Tetairoa McMillan, who had a standout game with 159 receiving yards, making crucial catches to keep drives alive. On the ground, the Falcons’ Bijan Robinson shined with 110 rushing yards, but it wasn’t enough to shift the momentum in Atlanta's favor. Defensively, the Steelers were relentless, with Jamel Dean racking up 13 total tackles and T.J. Watt recording 1.5 sacks to pressure the Falcons’ offense. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Jaycee Horn intercepted a pass, setting up a short field that allowed Pittsburgh to extend their lead. With a balanced attack and a stout defense, the Steelers proved they are ready for a competitive season ahead.
