In a hard-fought battle to kick off the 2026 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers narrowly defeated the Atlanta Falcons with a final score of 28-22. Both teams were eager to set the tone for the year, but it was the Steelers who emerged victorious in this thrilling Week 1 matchup. Pittsburgh's offense was led by veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who threw for 200 yards and showcased his experience under pressure. Rico Dowdle shined on the ground with a formidable 97 rushing yards, while Michael Pittman made crucial receptions, racking up 76 receiving yards and helping sustain key drives. Tua Tagovailoa countered for the Falcons with two touchdown passes, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Steelers' offensive prowess. Defensively, the Steelers were formidable, with Patrick Queen leading the charge with seven total tackles, contributing to a balanced effort that kept the Falcons in check. The turning point came when Jaquan Brisker snagged an interception, halting a promising Atlanta drive and swinging momentum back to Pittsburgh. Azeez Ojulari of the Falcons recorded the lone sack of the game, but it was the Steelers' defensive plays that sealed their Week 1 triumph.
