In a thrilling Week 2 matchup, the Denver Broncos defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 28-20, solidifying their early season momentum. Both teams came in looking to assert dominance in the AFC West, but it was the Broncos who ultimately emerged victorious in a hard-fought contest. Jordan Love of the Chiefs had a standout performance, throwing for 323 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to lead the offense. However, the Broncos relied on a balanced attack, with their rushing game not quite taking off, as Raleek Brown led the team with just 22 yards on the ground. Despite the Chiefs' offensive fireworks, it was Denver's ability to capitalize on key moments that made the difference. Defensively, the Broncos made critical plays when it mattered most, led by Mykel Williams, who recorded two sacks, and Trenton Simpson, who intercepted a pass to halt a potential scoring drive. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Denver's defense stifled a promising Chiefs drive, allowing the Broncos to maintain their lead and close out the game strong. Jeremy Chinn’s three tackles added to the effort, ensuring that the Chiefs couldn't find their rhythm in crucial moments.
