In a thrilling showdown, the Washington Commanders narrowly defeated the Houston Oilers 38-31 in Week 6 of the 2027 season. The victory keeps the Commanders firmly in the playoff hunt, while the Oilers are left to regroup after a hard-fought battle at home. Brock Purdy led the Commanders' offense with an impressive three touchdown passes, while Justin Jefferson emerged as his favorite target, racking up 90 receiving yards. On the other side, Lamar Jackson showcased his skills for the Oilers, throwing for 297 yards but ultimately falling short in the end. Jordan Mason contributed significantly on the ground with 79 rushing yards, but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Defensively, Bo Mascoe was a standout for Washington, recording a team-high nine tackles and an interception that proved crucial in the final moments of the game. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Mascoe's pick stifled a potential game-tying drive for the Oilers, allowing the Commanders to hold on for the victory. Both teams displayed offensive firepower, but it was the Commanders' defense that made the pivotal plays when they mattered most.
