In a strong start to the 2027 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers topped the Carolina Panthers 27-14, showcasing their offensive firepower while asserting their dominance in the opening week. The victory sets a promising tone for Tampa Bay as they look to build momentum in their quest for playoff contention. Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers' offense with an efficient performance, throwing for two touchdowns and guiding his team to key scoring drives. Bucky Irving added to the offensive success with 66 rushing yards, providing a balanced attack that kept the Panthers' defense on its heels. For Carolina, Bryce Young struggled to find his rhythm, finishing with just 119 passing yards, while Chris Brazzell II shone as the primary target with 84 receiving yards. Defensively, the Buccaneers managed to contain the Panthers effectively, forcing crucial turnovers and limiting big plays. The game's turning point came when Tampa Bay's defense intercepted a pass from Young, shifting momentum back to the Buccaneers at a critical juncture. Although Devin Lloyd of the Panthers had a standout performance with seven total tackles and two sacks, it wasn't enough to spark a comeback, as Tampa Bay's defensive efforts ultimately sealed the win.
