In a hard-fought battle in Week 2 of the 2027 season, the New England Patriots narrowly defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, finishing the game with a final score of 10-6. With both teams seeking a crucial win early in the season, this matchup proved to be a defensive struggle from start to finish. Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers' offense, throwing for 158 yards and a touchdown, showcasing his ability to manage the game despite the lack of scoring opportunities. Jonnu Smith emerged as Mayfield’s go-to target, racking up 56 receiving yards, while Bucky Irving contributed on the ground with 50 rushing yards, but it was ultimately the Patriots' steady approach that sealed the victory. Defensively, Jaquan Brisker stood out for New England, recording five total tackles and playing a key role in shutting down Tampa Bay's offensive efforts. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when the Patriots' defense held strong, forcing the Buccaneers to settle for a field goal instead of a touchdown, allowing New England to maintain their slim lead and secure the win.
