In a thrilling Week 5 matchup, the Seattle Seahawks narrowly defeated the San Francisco 49ers with a final score of 22-21, keeping their playoff hopes alive. The stakes were high as both teams aimed to solidify their positions in the competitive NFC West. Brock Purdy showcased his arm strength for the 49ers, throwing for an impressive 340 yards and two touchdowns, making him the standout performer on offense. However, it was Jaxon Smith-Njigba who shone for the Seahawks, racking up 135 receiving yards and playing a pivotal role in moving the chains. Despite Jadarian Price's modest rushing performance of 38 yards, Seattle's passing game proved to be the difference-maker. Defensively, the Seahawks stepped up when it mattered most, with Ernest Jones IV making a crucial interception that halted a potential game-winning drive by San Francisco. Terrion Arnold led the team with three total tackles, helping to contain the 49ers' offensive threats. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter, when Seattle's defense forced a turnover that ultimately sealed the victory for the home team.
