The Detroit Lions topped the New York Jets with a final score of 38-27 in a Week 3 showdown of the 2026 season. With both teams vying for early-season momentum, the Lions seized control with an impressive performance at home, showcasing their offensive firepower. Jared Goff led the charge for Detroit, throwing for 241 yards and two touchdowns, while Jahmyr Gibbs dominated the ground game with a staggering 183 rushing yards. Jameson Williams was a standout in the passing game, racking up 136 receiving yards and making critical catches to keep the chains moving. The Lions’ offense operated smoothly, capitalizing on their opportunities throughout the contest. Defensively, the Lions made key plays to secure their victory, highlighted by an interception from Lonnie Johnson Jr. that turned the tide in the second half. The Jets struggled to contain the Lions' explosive offense, and despite some pressure from Will McDonald IV, who recorded 1.5 sacks, they couldn't generate enough stops when it mattered most. Detroit’s ability to respond to the Jets' scoring drives ultimately sealed the win.
