In a thrilling Week 3 matchup, the New York Jets narrowly defeated the Detroit Lions 42-38, solidifying their position early in the 2026 season. Both teams were looking to establish momentum, but it was the Jets who ultimately came out on top in this high-scoring affair. Joe Milton led the Jets' offense with an impressive performance, throwing for three touchdowns and keeping the Lions' defense on its heels. Meanwhile, Detroit's Jared Goff put up a valiant effort with 295 passing yards, but it was not enough to secure the win. Jahmyr Gibbs contributed significantly on the ground for the Lions, rushing for 90 yards, while Jameson Williams lit up the field with 158 receiving yards. Defensively, the Jets made key plays that tilted the game in their favor, including a critical interception by D'Angelo Ponds. Trey Hendrickson also applied pressure with a sack that disrupted Goff's rhythm at crucial moments. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when the Jets' defense held firm, allowing their offense to run down the clock and secure the victory.
