In an electrifying Week 2 matchup, the Dallas Cowboys held off the Washington Commanders with a final score of 35-27, securing an important victory early in the 2026 season. Both teams entered the game looking to establish momentum, but it was Dallas that ultimately came out on top, showcasing their offensive firepower. Dak Prescott was the star of the night, throwing for an impressive 347 yards and five touchdowns, solidifying his position as a premier quarterback in the league. He connected with George Pickens for 123 yards, making them a dynamic duo that consistently threatened the Commanders' defense. On the ground, Jacory Croskey-Merritt led Washington with 87 rushing yards, but it was clear that the Cowboys’ air attack set the tone for the game. Defensively, the Cowboys stifled the Commanders at key moments, with Malachi Lawrence contributing two sacks that disrupted Washington's rhythm. The turning point of the game came in the fourth quarter when Lawrence's pressure forced a critical turnover, allowing Dallas to extend their lead. Despite a valiant effort from Sonny Styles and the Commanders' defense, they could not overcome the Cowboys' offensive onslaught.
