The Kansas City Chiefs opened their 2026 season with a commanding 52-29 victory over the Denver Broncos. With both teams looking to set the tone for the year, the Chiefs showcased their dominance on both sides of the ball, leaving no doubt about their intentions for the season ahead. Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs' offensive charge, throwing for an impressive 380 yards while connecting on multiple deep throws. Rashee Rice emerged as his favorite target, racking up 209 receiving yards and making critical plays throughout the game. Kenneth Walker added balance to the offense with a solid 100 rushing yards, contributing to a well-rounded attack that kept the Broncos' defense on their heels. On the defensive front, the Chiefs made key plays that shifted momentum in their favor, notably Jaden Hicks' interception that thwarted a promising Broncos drive. While the Broncos' Brandon Jones recorded 13 tackles, it was the Chiefs' ability to apply pressure and force mistakes that ultimately determined the outcome. The game's turning point came in the second quarter when the Chiefs scored two quick touchdowns, establishing a lead that the Broncos could not overcome.
