In a commanding performance, the New York Jets secured a decisive 42-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns in Week 5 of the 2026 season. This win keeps the Jets in contention for a playoff spot, while the Browns will need to regroup as they face increasing pressure in the competitive AFC. Drake Maye led the Jets' explosive offense, throwing for an impressive 325 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his ability to connect with receivers downfield. Adonai Mitchell was the standout target, racking up 205 receiving yards and consistently making big plays to keep the chains moving. Meanwhile, Omarion Hampton put forth a strong effort for the Browns with 106 rushing yards, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Jets' relentless attack. Defensively, the Jets were anchored by Jamien Sherwood, who recorded four total tackles and two sacks, applying constant pressure on the Browns' quarterback. The turning point came in the second quarter when Maye threw two touchdown passes in quick succession, allowing the Jets to pull away and never look back. Despite two interceptions from Carson Schwesinger of the Browns, the Jets’ defense effectively stifled any comeback efforts, sealing the game with their strong performance.
