The New England Patriots kicked off the 2027 season with a commanding 27-3 victory over the Washington Commanders. This win not only sets the tone for the Patriots' campaign but also highlights their dominance on both sides of the ball, leaving Washington searching for answers after a tough opening week. Drake Maye led the Patriots' offense with an efficient performance, throwing for 166 yards and two touchdown passes. TreVeyon Henderson bolstered the ground game with 92 rushing yards, helping New England establish control early. The Patriots' ability to move the ball effectively kept the pressure on the Commanders throughout the game. Defensively, the Patriots were relentless, with Ahmad Moten Sr. recording two sacks and Marcus Jones making a game-changing impact with two interceptions. The turning point came in the second quarter when Jones's first interception set up a quick touchdown, swinging momentum firmly in favor of New England. Despite a strong tackling effort from Sonny Styles of the Commanders, Washington's offense struggled to find its rhythm against a stout Patriots defense.
