In a thrilling Week 17 showdown, the Jacksonville Jaguars topped the Washington Commanders 63-49, solidifying their playoff position with a high-scoring affair. Both teams came in fighting for momentum, but it was the Jaguars who ultimately emerged victorious in a game that showcased explosive offensive talent. Dak Prescott put on a dazzling display for the Commanders, throwing for an impressive 573 yards and six touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Meanwhile, Brian Thomas Jr. shone for Jacksonville, racking up a staggering 267 receiving yards, which played a pivotal role in keeping the Jaguars ahead. Despite a lackluster ground game, Fernando Mendoza's contributions were enough to supplement the aerial attack. On the defensive side, the Jaguars made their mark with key plays from Christian Gonzalez, who snagged two interceptions, turning the tide in favor of Jacksonville. Trenton Simpson led the team in tackles with three, providing crucial stops when needed. The turning point came late in the third quarter when Gonzalez's second interception set up a touchdown that gave the Jaguars an insurmountable lead, sealing their victory.
